We're heading out on a year long trip!  We're looking for adventure, time together, to learn from each other, to see other parts of this great big world, and to slow life down a little bit.

Hey hey!  We haven't had great service and we've been out playing!  I'm "blogging" from the Cowboy Cafe in Jackson, WY.  I feel like we've done so much since our last post so this is a bit of a catch up session!!!!

From Dinosaur we continued north to the Flaming Gorge where we played a lot on the reservoir.  Sometimes we paddle around to check out different areas on the lake and other times the girls just played on the paddle boards and swam.  The water was so clear and smelled so fresh!  It was cold (we found out later the reservoir was about 60 degrees), but, yes, I swam too!

On our last day in the Gorge we rented a raft and floated the Green River from below the dam to the Little Hole take-out.  We were planning on doing the 7 mile stretch on our SUPS and kayak, but with the water being 46 degrees below the dam and some possible class II rapids we felt like it would be better done on a raft!  This stretch of river was like nothing I had ever seen before.  It was absolutely gorgeous!  The water was so pristine and so clear!  The trees so green!  We saw tons of rainbow trout and brown trout from our raft as we floated down. I’m so used to the silted waters of the San Juan and Colorado Rivers it really took my breath away!  I feel like these pictures don’t do this stretch of water justice, but here are a few.

We were the only “rafters” on the river, but there were many people fly fishing from the banks or from boats.

After our trip down the river we got a tour of the Flaming Gorge Dam which was actually pretty interesting!!  I can definitely say I have a much better understanding of how dams work to generate electricity (up until now John had us tricked into thinking that the only place electricity came from was solar!!!!).
